AD&D (no number but 1st, 1e, etc)
AD&D 2nd, number printed on it.
AD&D was an attempt to do several things, including but not lmited to make a uniform game, not have different games out with the name D&D on them.
then you have 3rd edition D&D built form AD&D rules, removing the A part... to screw up uniformity in naming...
as long as you know what you played.. that is all that really matters.
